In the year of 2000, 16 Americans were stranded on a deserted beach on the island of Borneo where they competed for million dollars. This groundbreaking show was called Survivor. The game of Survivor forced the strangers to work and live together while competing against one another.
On day 1, the castaways were divided into two enemy tribes who would face each other in multiple challenges competing for luxuries and immunity. The tribe who would lose immunity would be forced to sacrifice one of their own by voting them out at tribal council.
After the first six castaways were voted out the final ten merged into one tribe. When this happened the players had to create new strategies and one player, Richard Hatch, conformed alliances to help him get farther in the game.
His plan proved to be genius when he manipulated his way into the final two and won four out of seven votes from the jury. This made him the first person to win Survivor.
Since then, the game of Survivor has made series of changes and twists making the game harder and more complex. Today, castaways search for hidden immunity idols to save themselves from elimination and they must keep in mind that voted out players have the chance to return because of redemption island.
After 23 seasons, Survivor is still one of the most popular shows on television. Over 300 castaways have gotten to experience the adventure of Survivor and 21 of them have won the million-dollar prize.
On Sunday, December 18, 2011, CBS will reveal the next Survivor winner on Survivor: South Pacific.
Who will it be? Albert, Coach, Ozzy, Edna, Sophie, Rick or Brandon?
